Adrien Berlioz Cuvée des Gueux Blanc 2018

Character: Great expression of white Savoie, creamy and concentrated due to low yields in the vineyard and low intervention in the cellar. On the nose Alpine notes of grass and white flowers, ripe apple, almond and a tiny iodine touch that will become more pronounced with age. On the palate it is plump but refreshing, not overly acidic but with a chewy mineral crunch on the finish.

Vinification: Hand-harvested, organically farmed Jacquere and Altesse grapes from southwest-facing vineyard ‘Les Chateaux’ in Chignin. Old vines (50 years), densely planted on silty limestone soils worked with horse-plow. Carefully sorted whole clusters, delicately pressed and fermented in tank without additions. Natural malolactic fermentation, 4 months aging in tank.
