Denois, Crémant de Limoux
An organic Méthode Traditionelle from 6th generation vigneron Jean-Louis Denois. His family owns vineyards in Champagne, Vallée de Marne, but Jean-Louis chose to make his wines in this classic village close to the Pyrenese border. It is said that the original sparkling wines come from Limoux (Blanquette de Limoux). This Crémant is an assemblage of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The altitude of the vineyards (500/600 m.) and the ongoing winds keep the fruits fresh, with clean acidity.
Canet-Vallette Une et Mille Nuits 2019
Assemblage of typical southern French grapes Piquepoul and Bourboulenc. 13% alcohol. Bone dry, with a very saline minerality. Marc Valettes family used to sell their grapes instead of producing their own wines. Marc chose for the less safe, but more daring option of becoming a vigneron. His style is very cleancut and precise. An embodiment of a new generation from South France.
Domaine la Suffrene Bandol Rosé 2019
A South France Box in this season must contain a rosé from Provence, especially in this season. Although we did not want to do a thirteen in a box typ of rosé, but take you to a next level. Bandol on the Mediterranean coast is e Côte d’Azur Cru, providing very structured Mourverdre based wines. This dark, gastronomic rosé of Suffrene is full bodied, strong and concentrated.
Vila Voltaire ‘Gros Grains’ 2019 Coteaux d’Enserune
This is a wine made with a great glouglou-factor. Spicy and juicy, with a great pepperiness. The Gros Grain refers to the grapes Aramon and Cinsault (80/20). The Aramon, nowadays an less familiair grape used to be planted widely in South France. Providing thick juicy grapes with a high yield. Vila Volaire is a small domain in Saint-Chinian Languedoc run by Stéphane Yerles and his wife, oenologist Cécile.
Céline Oulié ‘Pimpren’elle’ 2018
In Le Sud-Ouest the vineyards of Céline Oulié are treated in the most organic way, Here wine are made with the biggest care in vineyard and cellar. She embodies the new spirit of the area. This aromatic short-macerated Tannat/Cabernet Franc is strong as well as lightfooted. Drink slightly chilled for the most enjoyable dark juice.
Valérie Courrèges Cahors ‘Ocrement-dit’ 2019
Valérie Courrèges is a young winemaker with a background in chemistry. She returned to her ancestral lands of Cahors in 2019, after an 100% Malbec from 50 year-old vines on red clay over limestone soils on the Cahors plateau. Vineyards in conversion to biodynamics, hand-harvested grapes, largely destemmed but uncrushed. 12 months aging in concrete tank and clay pots.
