Clos Roussely is situated in Angé-sur-Cher and has holdings in the appellations of Touraine and Chenonceaux. The domaine is now run by the youngest scion Vincent Roussely, whose chemical-free farming and cellar practices marry traditionalism with an urge to experiment. The winery itself is located in 250-year-old vaults carved deeply into the limestone enscarpments, which allows for temperature-controlled vinifications without elaborate technology.
Vincent Roussely ‘L’Echo’ Sauvignon Vin de France 2018
Vinification: Hand-harvested grapes, slow natural fermentation in tank, sur lie aging for several months, filtration and light sulphiting before bottling.
Character: The ‘L’Echo’ 2018 is a bright but slightly atypical Sauvignon Blanc. Of course it’s crisp and full of green fruits and herbs, but there’s a creamy richness that you might not expect from this grape and region. In fact it is a wine that we know pleases Sauvignon lovers AND haters. Serve it as an aperitif, with chalky goat’s cheese, with seafood salads or fish a with light (butter) sauce. Think clean and green flavours but hold back a bit on the acidity.
