Poderi Morini Savignone 2023

14.22

Poderi Morini (40 ha. and 110,000 bottles) is a young company (founded only in 1998) located in the hills of Romagna, near Faenza.

We selected this company because of its production of the Centesimino grape, a unique and typical indigenous grape with special characteristics. Centesimino, or Sauvignon Rosso, is a red grape variety discovered in the last century by Peter Pianori. He found the vines in a city garden in Faenza, where the vines remained protected from the phylloxera louse by a high enclosure and thus survived the devastating epidemic.

The grape is grown on the hills in front of Faenza, in the area around the Tower of Oriolo (which is also where Morini’s cellar and vineyard are located). The grape has relatively low tannins and a very distinctive aroma (bouquet). Most are dark ruby red in the glass and have a strong scent of orange blossom, rose, violet, licorice, and anise. A grape cultivated with passion and patience that produces elegant wines, which are highly sought after in the region, but truly unknown to us.
