Château de Cérons
In Bordeaux lies the area of Graves, which is known for excellent red and white wines – unique for this region! Famous examples are the wines made in the north of Graves under the appellation Pessac-Léognan.

Famous examples include the wines of Château Smith Haut-Lafitte and Domaine de Chevalier, and Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. Further south lie Sauternes and Barsac, communes known worldwide for their exclusive, luscious dessert wines made from botrytized grapes, affected by what is poetically called “noble rot” (pourriture noble).

This is also where the small appellation of Cérons is located, the little brother (or sister!) of Sauternes. Xavier and Caroline Perromat, who took over this chateau in 2012, produce as one of the smallest domains under this unknown Bordeaux appellation near the Garonne, separated from Barsac by the small river of Saint-Cricq. The beautiful Château de Cérons is located in the middle of the old village and is surrounded by vineyards. Xavier and Caroline work organically and biodynamically, and are working hard to get this certified in the coming years. They work with small and controlled yields. Their terroir has a unique limestone soil and climate, hence is the birthplace of delicious reds and whites. If you are looking for a precise, aromatic aromatic white or red Bordeaux, or an affordable sweet Bordeaux in the style of Sauternes, you have found the right domaine!
