Montefalco Sagrantino is regarded as the most prestigious wine of the region.
Umbria, on the hills surrounding the town of Montefalco. This wine made from the Sagrantino grape is the only DOCG in this area. The vineyards are situated at approximately 450 meters above sea level. The harvest is done by hand and takes place in mid-October. After the harvest, fermentation takes place in large stainless steel tanks with a maceration of approximately 35-40 days. Subsequently, the wine ages for another 24 months in French oak barrels. After barrel aging, the wine ages in the bottle for another six months before being released onto the market.
