Founded in 1950, Ferlat is located in the eastern part of Friuli Venezia Giulia, in the renowned D.O.C. Friuli Isonzo. For the past few years, two young Friulian winemakers Federica Tabacchi and Moreno Ferlat have been managing the winery. They have 7.5 hectares of organic vineyard where they grow native varietals such as Pinot Grigio, Fruilano, and not so native like Cabernet Franc. The philosophy is to product high quality wine with a distinctive character of the terrior and grape varieties. To achieve this they use the most advanced techniques but with absolute respect for nature. Their wines are personal and linked to their history.
In the vineyard, the philosophy is very simple. They seek minimal environmental impact in viticulture. All of their vineyards are completely grassed with herbs that grow spontaneously. As Ferlat is certified organic, they do not use herbicides. They believe that other organic compounds into the soil when they mow to sustain and improve the biodiversity of the soil. They only use copper and sulfur in the vineyard. Their goal is to produce the highest quality wines that expresses the natural grape.
