Menu Pineau
The alternative name of Menu Pineau is Arbois or Orbois but confusingly has nothing to do with Jura. It has a connection with a dialect from the Loire named Orboé. Its natural habitat is Touraine, but the grape has almost been entirely replaced by Sauvignon Blanc. Fortunately, the chase for original varieties gives this ancient grape a renewed platform. It’s a bit more rustic than Chenin and in the Jousset-way the wine is refreshing and full of expressive fruits.
2019 Menu Pineau from Jousset is still a bit wild in the nose, but the flavour is full and aromatic. The finish has a great mineral structure, making it a wine suitable for oriental spices and raw seafood.
Domaine Jousset
Bertrand Jousset former military man and Sommelier in Paris. After meeting Lise they moved to the left bank of the Loire (Touraine). But they quested also for the best Chenins and ended up in Montlouis. They make parcellair wines from 30 to 130-year-old vineyards in full respect of nature.
