Martin Conrad Brauneberger Juffer Grosses Gewächs 2017

Weingut Martin Conrad is deeply rooted in the steep slopes of the Middle Moselle, specifically in the famous wine village of Brauneberg. The family has been cultivating wine here since the 16th century, but it was the current owner, Martin Conrad, who took the helm to elevate the estate to a modern level of quality. After his studies in Geisenheim and internships in California, he quickly committed to a conversion to organic viticulture. With deep respect for tradition, he focuses on the unique terroir expression of their most important vineyards: the world-famous Brauneberger Juffer and the Juffer-Sonnenuhr.

At the heart of the philosophy at Martin Conrad is the conviction that great wine is made in the vineyard. The winery owns approximately 5.5 hectares of vineyards, the vast majority of which is planted with Riesling. These grapes grow on extremely steep slopes with a soil of weathered blue and grey slate (Schiefer). Through rigorous selection, manual harvesting, and a minimalist approach in the cellar, Conrad succeeds in producing wines that perfectly reflect both the minerality of the soil and the refined acidity of the Riesling grape.

Martin Conrad’s wines are known for their remarkable balance between power and elegance. Although the focus is on dry and semi-dry Rieslings, the winery also excels in sweet specialties and sparkling wines (Sekt) made according to the traditional method. Thanks to the combination of centuries-old expertise and a modern vision of sustainability, the estate has secured a firm place at the top of the German wine world, where every bottle is a liquid translation of the unique Moselle landscape.
