Nestled in the Neive, Langhe region of Piedmont, Fratelli Cigliuti is a hidden gem of Barbaresco, maintained by four generations of family dedication. In 1964, Renato Cigliuti initiated estate bottling with just 300 bottles of Barbaresco, marking the beginning of their journey. His innovative approach, including green harvesting to prioritize quality over quantity, was revolutionary at the time.
Today, they emphasize viticulture and oversee every step from cultivation to bottling carefully. The estate spans 7.5ha, with 6ha in the Serraboella and 1.5ha in Bricco di Neive. Serraboella’s calcareous soils impart structure and concentration, while Bricco di Neive’s clay soils contribute rich fruitiness.
Practicing organic farming, they minimize chemical interventions. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented by native yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Except for Dolcetto, all wines are aged in Slavonian oak barrels or barriques, enhancing complexity and depth.
Signature wines include Barbaresco “Serraboella” and “Vie Erte,” showcasing Nebbiolo’s delicate tannins and elegant acidity. Barbera d’Alba “Campass” and “Vigna Serraboella” offer rich fruit flavors while expressing varietal character.
Antonio Galloni praises Cigliuti as “one of the most under-the-radar estates in Barbaresco,” acknowledging their exceptional quality.
Cigliuti’s wines are a testament to family passion and a profound connection to the land, encapsulating the landscape, history, and hope of the Langhe region in every glass.
