Adam et Mereaux is based in the village of Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims. For four generations, they have embodied a passion for ecological and sustainable viticulture, pure winemaking in the wonderful terroir. Now a young couple, Estelle and her husband have started building innovation.
Their 7ha of vineyards are spread across the communes of Verzenay, Verzy, Berru, Mailly-Champagne, Ludes, Chigny Les Roses and Hautvilleres. The Montagne de Reims is a region where Pinot Noir is grown in abundance, but in the north-east where the Mereaux vineyards are located, there are also few villages that specialize in Chardonnay. Mereaux grows mainly Chardonnay in these terroirs. Each of their 40 plots is cultivated using organic methods, and they are going to be certified soon. They are like a “treasure island floating in the ocean of Pinot Noir”.
For the past few years, they had been making Chardonnay from the vinyard in Berru at the cooperative that Estelle’s grandfather helped to establish. In 2023, they released their estate bottled champagne for the first time, becoming a “grower champagne”.
Adam Mereaux’s champagnes are characterized by their low dosage and pure, clean style. They produce lively crisp blanc de blanc champagnes that are distinguished by their elegance and minerality.
