Champagne Dumont
For seven generations, Champagne Dumont has already been known by the name Champagne Robert Dumont et Fils. With great care and passion, they produce elegant, fruity, and generous Champagnes that faithful expression of Pinot Noir. Laurent has worked for Roederer for 7 years, and also experienced in Australia, California, and Portugal. Her desire arose to give Dumont a new touch with a biodynamic approach. In 2019, Bernard and Laurent Dumont founded the Dumont family – Domaine de Mondeville. It is located in the Cote de Bar, near the city of Troyes, which is particularly known for high quality Pinot Noir.
15ha of their own vineyards are maintained with organic and biodynamic farming methods in respect of nature.
The most distinctive feature of Dumont is that all vines are planted in the Champignol terroir, which is 369m above sea level. This is the highest point of wine production in Champagne.
The type of soil is Kimmeridgian, like those of Chablis and Sancerre, consisting of clay and limestone. The average age of the vines is around 40 years. Pinot Noir predominates at 90%, and Chardonnay and Arbanne make up a small portion.
Southern location and the full benefit of the sun make grape well ripen. The best quality grapes require only little or no dosage. Grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels. No sulfites are used in the production process. The champagne reflects the vineyard through its natural and authentic style.
Thanks to their biodynamic approach, Dumont is a small Champagne house with a big future ahead.
