Domaine Jousset
Nestled in the quiet, rolling hills of Montlouis-sur-Loire in the Loire Valley, Domaine Jousset has earned a reputation as a master of natural winemaking. Established in 2004 from the meeting of two souls: Bertrand, a former soldier, and Lise, a trained sommelier. Together, they have created wines that are as light and enchanting as a spring breeze, full of character and quiet elegance.
Their choice of this region was no coincidence—it was driven by a deep devotion to Chenin Blanc, a grape that lends itself to a wide range of expressions, from dry to sparkling, making it the perfect canvas for their passion and skill.
Their 8ha vineyards are divided into 27 distinct plots with diverse soils such as clay, flint, and limestone, planted primarily with Chenin Blanc vines ranging from 5 to 100 years old, along with smaller parcels of Chardonnay, Gamay, and Grolleau. From the very beginning, the domaine has embraced organic farming, and since 2015, biodynamic principles have further deepened their connection to the land. No chemical fertilizers or herbicides are used, only natural preparations and diligent handwork to preserve the vitality of the soil and vines.
In the cellar, their philosophy remains grounded in minimal intervention. Fermentations are led by wild yeasts, there is no added sugar, no acid correction, and only minimal sulfur is used when necessary. Whites and roses are gently pressed by gravity, while reds undergo carbonic maceration to preserve freshness and finesse. The wines are matured in barrels of various sizes (225–600L), allowing each cuvee to express its unique soul.
Their wines are “Vin Vivant,” made with close communication with nature. In every glass, you’ll find their dedication, the memory of the land, and a hopeful vision for the future.
