The showpiece of this winemaker! Once, before we started importing this Weingut, two of our colleagues blind-tasted this wine. Conclusion: a very high level Bordeaux. Sure we could discuss if that was a correct judgement, but if that conclusion was drawn because this is an old-fashioned good wine, then we can certainly agree with that! The grapes are from the Neckarsulmer Scheuerberg, a vineyard that was already seen by the Teutonic Knighthood in the Middle Ages as the preferred place to grow grapes. Steep vineyards on the river Neckar, where the temperatures can rise considerably. Cool nights and mornings ensure sufficient freshness of the grapes. And you can taste that in the wine, in addition to the certainly also present wood influence (matured for 15 months), smokyness, berry fruit, tobacco, white pepper and leather. Complete wine. Certainly not for daily use, but given the quality a bargain…
